Happy New Year.

Happy New Year!

Wow! 2020 was filled with its challenges. From the start, we were hit with uncertainty. Covid-19 appeared and the world was on lockdown. At least here in NY/NJ, we were. Jobless claims rose to a record high every day, huge lines began forming at food banks. And worst of all, Churches were close. How strange it felt to not be able to go to church?

Think about that for a minute...

In all my life, never would I imagine the house of worship would close. It's more than that. It's a place of refuge, a place to seek help, yet it was close. This forced me to re-evaluate my relationship with God. In 2019, I had come to understand why it's called the house of GOD. Numerous times, God would reveal himself to me in the church. Time and time again God reached out and spoke to me. It was at His house I really understood He loves me, and I accepted his son, Jesus, as my savior. But 2020 came with a curveball. And for a short moment, I felt lost.

I was reminded of a moment in church. It was prayer night. I was studying Matthew 5:14-15

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

I was meditating on that. I was looking up at the ceiling. And observed the sparks of the Gold glitter mixed in with the popcorn ceiling. Taking note that the closer ones would shine brighter, yet the specks of glitters further away shined less. That's when I realized In order to shine bright, you have to seek God more. Not just in the Church but in every moment of your life. The church doors may be closed, but His light still shines.

All we have to do is move closer to Him. He is the light source we all need for 2021. Happy New Year.
